Intracranial hypertension (IH) is the general term for the neurological disorder in which cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure within the skull is too high. IIH Stands for Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension. the Extra I means they do not know what caused it. (Old names for IH include Benign Intracranial Hypertension and Pseudotumor Cerebri).
The Most Common Symptoms:
- Debilitating pressure headaches
- Blurry our double vision
- Dizzy and or fainting spells
- Chronic fatigue.
- tinnitus (whooshing in the ears)
IIH is not a very well known. It is considered a silent, chronic disease, which means you can't tell someone is suffering from just looking at them.
Very few recognize this disease. Not many qualify for disability and if they do, it takes a lot of hoops to jump through. Its not on the disabilities list at colleges and most doctors diagnose it as chronic headaches.
You can help bring awareness to IIH by sharing this website. It will give people an understanding of this disease. Hopefully we can make a big enough change where doctors are more understanding and educated on it.
